ASHLAND, Ore. - Zeb Hoffman got only two throws in the sector but it was the second that resulted in the senior from The Evergreen State College earning his second consecutive Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships hammer throw title.

Hoffman threw 57.31 meters (188-0) on his fifth attempt Friday afternoon to win the event for the second straight year. He defeated the next closest competitor by nearly 20 feet and now will focus his attention on going after his second consecutive NAIA national meet hemmer crown.

Ali Mackey, also a senior, improved her women's hammer throw school record to 33.36 meters (109-5) to place 12th out of 17 competitors in the Friday afternoon event.

Camille Christenson leaped 4.64 meters (15-2 3/4) to finish 16th in the women's long jump, and Jaz Smith clocked 16.62 seconds to finish 11th in the men's 110 hurdles, both of those events occurring on Friday.

Christenson and Smith were Evergreen's Saturday competitors, Christenson placing 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 9.75 (32-0), and Smith placing 10th in the 400 hurdles in 1:04.86.

Hoffman's first-place finish netted Evergreen 10 points and a ninth-place finish in the team standings. Southern Oregon placed first with 189.5 points, followed by College of Idaho with 144, Eastern Oregon 139.5, Corban 126, Oregon Tech 100, Northwest Christian 72, Northwest 22, Warner Pacific 12, Evergreen 10, and Multnomah 2.

On the women's side, College of Idaho won with 218.5, followed by Southern Oregon with 176.5, Eastern Oregon 122, Oregon Tech 103, Northwest Christian 89.5, Corban 62, Northwest 27.5, Warner Pacific 9 and Multnomah 4.
