Irene Moore wrapped up a phenomenal performance at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon when she broke her own school record and qualified for the NAIA national meet with a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles.
On the men's side,
Jonathan Jack-Nixon established a new school record in the 200-meter dash, placing seventh in a time of 22.39.
Moore, who finished in the top six in four individual events in addition to placing second in the heptathlon, clocked 1:02.38 to break the 400-meter hurdles school-record time of 1:03.52 she earlier this season. The senior from Bremerton has registered national meet qualifying marks in the heptathlon and the 400 hurdles. The NAIA Track & Field Championships are slated for May 26-28 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
Evergreen finished with 29 team points, all contributed by Moore. She recorded second-place finishes in the heptathlon and 400 hurdles, was third in the 100 hurdles, fifth in the 400-meter dash, and sixth in the long jump. She also placed 12th in the javelin throw with a mark of 26.48, or 86-10.
College of Idaho won the women's team crown with 203 points, followed by Eastern Oregon with 164, Corban 107.5, Northwest Christian 106, Southern Oregon 101, Oregon Tech 48, Northwest 40.5, Evergreen 29, and Warner Pacific 18.
Camille Christenson placed 15th in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 13.82, and 13th in the triple jump with a leap of 9.31 meters, or 30-6 ½.
Jack-Nixon, who placed second in the 400-meter dash on Friday, placed seventh in the 200 with his school-record time and despite running into a slight head wind. The old school record was 22.45 set by Darren Woods in 2010.
The men's standings showed Southern Oregon in first with 189 points, followed by Eastern Oregon with 187, College of Idaho 166, Corban 99, Oregon Tech 81, Northwest Christian 41, Evergreen 20, and Warner Pacific and Northwest with 17 each.
