For the second consecutive season, The Evergreen State College is represented on the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Team list.
This year, sophomore defender
Jordan Zimmerman has earned honorable mention All-America recognition after helping lead the Geoducks to a 9-2-4 overall record and a third-place finish in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings.
A two-year starter at center back who came to Evergreen out of Olympia's Capital High School, Zimmerman marshalled a defense that allowed only 15 goals all season while also tallying four goals and one assist during the 2016 season. He previously was named to the All-Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer First Team.
"Jordan had a special year. He was the leader of the best defense in the conference," said Evergreen head coach
John Purtteman, noting the team's 0.71 goals against average in conference matches. "He was also a threat to score on every set piece. Jordan has great individual talent and a tremendous work rate. He sets the bar for himself very high and then does the work to achieve his goals."
Zimmerman is one of only three players from the Cascade Collegiate Conference to be named to the NAIA Men's Soccer All-America list, joining Corban forward Timur Zhividze (third team) and Rocky Mountain defender Eddie Cass (honorable mention).
The NAIA Men's Soccer All-America Team is selected by a committee consisting of the NAIA-Men's Soccer Coaches Association Executive Committee, the National Championship Games Committee and four men's soccer coaches based on geography.
