Box Score Molly Celler opened the scoring for The Evergreen State College in the third minute, but after that Rocky Mountain found the net four times Saturday afternoon in taking a 4-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer victory at Geoduck Pitch.
Celler scored her second of the season for the Geoducks (2-11-0 overall, 2-7-0 CCC) just 2:29 into the match, meeting a cross from
Ellie Engel with her right foot and sweeping it to the far post past Rocky goalkeeper Lia Unterholzner.
The strike by Celler was the quickest of the season for the Geoducks, and the lead lasted for another 34 minutes before Rocky (9-5-2, 7-3-1) started its comeback.
Mandi Achten was in on the first two goals. Her corner kick found high-leaping Chez Keehn, who headed home at 36:52 of the first half. Achten made it 2-1 in favor of the Bears, finding a loose ball on the back post and tapping it in at 41:28. That was the score at the intermission.
Rocky Mountain made it 3-1 at 74:00 on Leah Hippauf's strike from the top of the penalty box, the assist going to Sami Kratofil, and the final tally came at 86:51 from Janell Cabrera. She latched onto a pass from Gabi Heflin and hit a 25-yard high-arcing shot that floated in just under the cross bar.
Rocky finished with a 21-7 advantage in shots and it also earned four corner kicks compared to two for the Geoducks.
Alison Mackey picked up six saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal for Evergreen. Unterholzner played almost 76 minutes and Samantha Kelley finished it up for Rocky between the pipes.
