LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon showed why it is the 10th-ranked team in the NAIA Volleyball Top 25, defeating The Evergreen State College 25-15, 25-19, 25-8 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference match played Saturday afternoon in Quinn Coliseum.
The Mountaineers improved their overall record to 20-2 and are now 10-1 in the conference, keeping pace at the top of the CCC with Southern Oregon. Evergreen is now 11-13 overall and 2-9 in the CCC after dropping its fifth straight match.
Eastern Oregon hit .360 with 41 kills and just 10 errors during the match, with hitting percentages of .448 in the first set and .480 in the third set. Evergreen, meanwhile, hit .081 as a team.
Individually for the Geoducks,
Nicole Pittelkau had eight kills,
Jaclyn Trinque 23 assists and
Natimia Barker-Doss 12 digs.
Brandee Victorino had a solid all-around match with five kills, a .667 attack percentage and one solo block and three block assists. The Geoducks finished the match with five team blocks compared to seven for the home squad.
For Eastern Oregon, Casey Loper had 14 kills and Rachelle Chamberlain 31 assists.
Evergreen returns to action at 7 p.m. next Friday when it hosts Concordia in another conference contest.
